Cheddar and Chive Biscuits

Cheddar and Chive Biscuits

I first made these biscuits back in high school during a foods class – I think it may have been the first time I actually baked biscuits from scratch on my own. I still remember how proud (and slightly surprised) I was when they came out perfectly golden, with that irresistible buttery aroma filling the kitchen. They’re wonderfully simple, yet so full of flavor – sharp cheddar, fresh chives and a soft, flaky texture. makes them just as perfect for a cozy brunch. A little classic comfort, made with love.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/4 cups plain yogurt
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped chives
  1. Preheat oven to 450F. Grease a baking sheet or use parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Mix well.
  3. Using a fork (or pastry blender) cut in the butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add yogurt, grated cheese and chives. Stir until just moistened.
  5. Drop your dough by tablespoons onto the baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 450F for 9-12 minutes.
